The Yacht Life

Gil Walsh Interiors Brings Color and Comfort to Interior Yacht Design.

When most people think of interior design, images of beautifully decorated homes come to mind. When they think of a yacht, they picture cocktails, ocean breezes, and sunbathing on deck. But for yacht owners, their vessel is more than just a type of water transport. It is their home away from home during their stay in sailing.

Designing the interior of a yacht requires a mix of having an eye for design and understanding what makes the vessel different than a residential building. When Gil Walsh Interiors was hired to design the interior of the Redemption, they chose a bright orange and electric blue color palette to give new life to the décor. The use of UV-rated and water-resistant performance fabrics on the deck was the best option to combat the ocean elements and direct sunlight.

The interior living cabin was highlighted with Hermes silk scarves that were repurposed into custom-made throw pillows. Pairing them with a Hermes equestrian blanket and brightly colored accessories, the seating sectional was transformed into a stylish yet cozy gathering spot, complimenting the beautiful cherry wood color of the interior trim and cabinets. Extending the design concept into the master bedroom the designers added touches of blue and gold, spotlighting a Versace silk scarf bolster accent pillow. The guest bedrooms were also decorated in a similar color palette, boasting cozy throw blankets, and additional custom-made throw pillows.
